Map Talk

We have a new map.

The Historian's Office has been recently perplexed by references to a map from "Preston's History." A vague reference at best with date and subject of this 'history' unknown. A search on "Preston" and "Preston's History" found nothing. But now we have found the map! Can anyone guess the source? Next post we will provide the date which may help you identify "Preston's History." Til then, keep on mappin'. Reg

  1. Mike Troy offers the following about the so-called "Preston's Map":
There are several copies of Preston's map around our office, all small and in glorious low-definition black-and-white. W.W. Preston is the publisher of the History, not the author, and the presence of the railroad in Carmel dates it to... oh, say the 1880s...

This has been reposted with the map in question in case anyone missed Mike's comment.

In fact, Mike shows some good sleuthing noticing that railroad, and he dates it to the correct period. But I'm not quite sure how he concludes that Preston is the publisher and not the author.

So Mike (or anyone else), who is the author? And what is the title of Preston's History?

This clue might help - it was published in 1886. Keep on mappin'. Reg
